Sunday, June 2, 2013 – Unconventional Gardens: Roof Top Gardens & Vertical Gardening. 1 pm Join Teresa Nelson of Roof Top Sedums as we explore the benefits of rooftop gardens and vertical greening systems. Learn why these systems are a good investment for the environment and your wallet. Admission for this program is Adults - $6, Seniors (60+) - $5, Youth (5-12) - $4, Kids (2-4) - $2. Members and children under 2 are always free.
Dollar Mondays: June 3 – August 13, 2013. The Family Museum, Putnam Museum, Quad City Botanical Center and Moline’s Riverside Aquatic Center, in partnership with The Family Credit Union are pleased to offer one dollar admission on Mondays this summer! Beginning Monday June 3, and running through August 13, 2013 (5pm – 8pm at Moline’s Riverside Aquatic Center), admission to these four wonderful Quad City amenities will be only one dollar on Mondays. Saturday, June 15, 2013- Garden Walk—9am-2pm Take a drive and discover your next garden project as you tour 7 unique gardens!From ponds to gazebos, each garden offers something special. This unguided tour can be taken at your own pace, and a master gardener will be available at each site to answer questions. Maps are available for sale at the Quad City Botanical Center from 8:00am-12:00pm on June 15th. Cost is $10.00 per person. Purchasing a map includes free admission to the Botanical Center before or after the walk! The Garden Walk will go on rain or shine. No maps will be for sale before the day of the event.
Sunday, June 16, 2013 – Father’s Day Birdhouse Bash – 11:00am-2:00pm. Build and paint a birdhouse with dad this Father’s Day at the Quad City Botanical Center. Also enjoy lawn games and refreshments along with other activities. Your painted birdhouse will be on display in the gardens for the month of June for all visitors to enjoy. You will be able to pick up your birdhouse at the end of the month. Admission is $20.00 per family (up to 5 family members). Please preregister by calling 309-794-0991 x 208.
Thursday, June 20, 2013 - Bus trip: June Garden Jaunt. Cost: $119.00 for non- members of the Quad City Botanical Center / $99.00 for members. This trip is for the garden and flower lover. Our first stop will be at the new jewel of Rockford, IL Nicholas Conservatory, after that onto the Rotary Gardens in Janesville, WI where will have lunch and tour the gardens, next a shopping visit at the Alp & Dell Cheese Store in Monroe, WI , and dinner at the Fieldstone Inn in Freeport, IL. Thursday, June 27, 2013-The Garden Party.- 6:00pm. Support the Botanical Center and help us celebrate our 15th anniversary by joining us at our signature fundraiser The Garden Party. This beautiful evening features sample dishes from the area’s leading chefs, music, silent auction and more. Cost: $480.00 for a reserved table of up to eight guests. July 4 – August 1, 2013 - Flamingo Follies (a wacky-tacky lawn art exhibit). The flock returns to the Quad City Botanical Center this summer. Area artists have artistically altered plastic pink lawn flamingos into works of art. The exhibit is open during regular Botanical Center hours. Join us for Flamingo Fun Family Programming every Sunday in July (additional fee may apply) visit qcgardens.com for more information. *Ongoing event: Flamingo scavenger hunt with cool tropical prizes. Friday, August 2, 2013 - Flamingo Fling (art auction and summer party) Doors open at 6:00pm – auction starts at 7:00. Cost $15.00 per adult guest / kids 15years and under $10.00. You saw the art exhibit Flamingo Follies and said to yourself. “ Boy, I would love one of those for my own yard!” Well here’s your chance. The very same flamingos that have been on exhibit in the gardens of the Botanical Center for the month of July will be auctioned off at the Flamingo Fling Friday, August 2 featuring a live art auction and entertainment. The tropical party includes: live band, live auction, cash bar, light appetizers, best dressed flamingo guest, raffle and much more.
