The Quad City Botanical Center is dedicated to the safety and enjoyment of our guests. Please adhere to the following list of recommendations when visiting our gardens:
Please stay on walkways, pathways and lawns. Do not walk in garden beds or climb on rock or retaining walls, or otherwise invade the growing beds. Please feel welcomed to gently touch, smell, and take in the beauty of our collection, but do not pick flowers, fruits, plants, or collect seeds unless with permission and under the supervision of a staff member as part of an educational class. Please refrain from using the speaker function for cell phone conversations or listening to music. The Quad City Botanical Center is a smoke free environment, please do not smoke or vape in the gardens. Smoking is only allowed in designated areas and away from entrances to the gardens in accordance with Illinois State Law. There are waste receptacles located indoors and outdoors – please do not litter the grounds. Appropriate clothing is required at all times throughout the gardens. If adults and children are wearing swimming gear to enjoy the Children’s Garden, please be sure to be appropriately dressed when entering other areas of the garden. Public restrooms are available for changing in and out of clothing and changing diapers. Please do not change clothing or diapers outdoors. Shoes and shirts are required in all other areas of the garden. In respect to all garden visitors, patrons wearing articles of clothing that may be taken as profane, vulgar, racial, sexist, or sexually suggestive, including slogans/illustrations, may be asked to change clothing before entering the garden. Please do not bring your pets to the garden, unless as part of a pre-planned special event. Assistance animals are always welcomed. Please do not approach or touch wildlife, it may bring harm to the animal, or to you. The Koi fish, turtles, toads and frogs in the Sun Garden atrium should also not be touched or handled. Guests bringing picnics and snacks are asked to follow these guidelines: No breakable bottles, dishes, drinking cups or alcohol. Please dispose of all wrappers and remaining food. We would love to be the host site for your special event! However, formal or informal groups are not allowed to hold meetings, weddings, memorial services, christenings, or photo sessions at the gardens without advance arrangements. Please visit the private rental page for more details, or call 309.794.0991 ext. 201 for more information. We welcome artists and photographers to document the exhibits through art. Please alert our guest services team when you arrive if you plan to paint or photograph areas of the garden. For your personal safety, please do not wade or swim in the reflecting ponds, or walk over them when ice covered. Keep your personal items with your at all times, the gardens are not responsible for missing or lost items. If you recover an item on the grounds, please turn it into guest services to be added to the lost and found. Use caution around reflecting ponds, Children's Garden water features and watch children. One adult should accompany every five children. No climbing on rock walls, running on concrete paths, or other play that may cause injury is permitted. No children under the age of 12 are allowed to enter the garden exhibits without parental supervision. No skates, skate boards, skate shoes, or wheeled recreation devices are allowed in the gardens. Firearms are not permitted anywhere on the grounds or gardens. The rights of other visitors to enjoy the garden must always be respected. The garden reserves the right to ask a visitor to leave for inappropriate or offensive behavior. Visitors will be held liable for any damage to garden property. We do not allow solicitation, lobbying, or petitioning of any kind from any outside, non-sanctioned entity on garden property, regardless of the organization or cause being represented. This includes, but is not limited to, the circulation or distribution of literature, brochures, handbills, leaflets, signage, pamphlets, notices, cards, advertising, promotional items, petitions, registrations, etc.
